 On the way home from work I saw clouds everywhere and knew it would be a good sunset. I had no idea it was going to be one of the most amazing sunsets I ever saw. The entire sky was covered with all kinds of clouds and minute by minute the colors and textures changed.

But I blew it twice. I wanted to get out of work a bit early and ended up staying over to finish a couple things that had to be done. So when the sunset was peaking I was driving. When the sky was brilliant I drove past the weigh station and didn't realize until it was too late. This is the way station that I see every day on the way home from work and think how neat it would be to take a picture of the farm. Or the abandoned tractor on the little hill. The time of day was perfect and the sky was incredible. There was no time to go back since I'd have to drive to the exit, turn around, and then somehow loop back.

I pulled over almost at home and very quickly got everything and found a tree to put in foreground.

3 images HDR/tonemapped, then mostly basic editing. I don't like the area that's blown out but it was the best I could get. I really boosted to saturation quite a bit but the colors really were this intense. And the whole sky looked much better but this was probaby 10-15 min after peak.

That is absolutely AMAZING!! Sunsets like that literally take your breath away. It looks like fire in the sky!

You sure captured the vast sky and fabulous colors! It was worth the trouble because the image turned out so pretty!! Dang, the sun sets too fast.
