ok, i have a confession: i hate flower shots.

sorry. i think it's a cheesy way to get a "good" photo.

so what did i get to do today? oh, irony of ironies -- i spent my entire morning shooting flowers at a wholesale flower shop.

really, i had a good time. it's nice to have someone else do the setups and everything, and it's hard to take a bad photo of a beautiful bouquet.

but, still. cheesy mccheese!

--

oh, and i would just like to say that i LOVE the ISO on the D200. it's light years beyond what i could do with the D70. i had been reluctant to crank up the ISO for a while because of my experience with the D70, but this is amazing.

i actually added noise to this particular shot.

jinkies.

Yeah, OK, so you hate flower shots. Big deal. Hmmmm. I am so disappointed. Well, not really, but .... so you're one of those that thinks it's so "easy" to make flower shots, eh? Sure. Oh well. Off to the great blue I am.

The slight touch of noise adds to the photo. Makes it feel like an older photograph. The colors are quite nice and soothing.

Oooh! Really nice! I love the contrasting colors & that slight grain definitely works nice for this.

It may be a cheesy way to get a good photo, but it's harder than it looks. This is a very good flower photo. Colors are exceptional and not overly flower-like, if that makes sense. And I'm really glad you joined this side challenge - I hadn't had the chance to really see your work all that much before, and I really enjoy it!

Beautiful flower! The detail is amazing!

Well, I'd have to concur that some flower shots are cheesy. But some are glorious (especially the ones I've seen around here) and so is this one! This ain't your grandmother's mccheesy, IMO. The rich colors and bold processing result in a very unique and wonderful image!

I feel the same way about flower shots, but this is very pretty - and unusual. Love those muted colors. Me, I'm not a noise fan, but hey - it's a choice.

Great colours, dof and I really like the feel of texture the grain adds. Cool shot!

Well. . .for a guy who hates flower photos. . .you sure turned out a fabulous one! I think the ever-so-slight grain adds so much character to this, and it keeps it from being your standard dreamy shallow-depth-of-field shot.

flowers. hehe

I guess most of my portfolio is cheesy then. ;~p

I like the rich autumnal colors and textures.

I've been known to add noise to shots too, cause sometimes a picture just needs to be a whole lot noisier! These dusky, muted tones are quite lurvly, and most definitely not mccheesy, mister muckpond. ;)
