I like this. In fact, I find it "effective," as well as an extraordinarily succint summary of the Toronto Islands Experience.

I find the background to washed out, and it difficult to focus on the subjects, the photo might work better by getting down low and focusing on one goose. The use of a fill flash and faster shutter speed would likely allow for the goose and background to both be more appropriately exposed.
