 Taken two days too early for the Macro challenge....*sigh
This shot was taken in the bright midday sun. It was the only time the Crane was near enough to the fence to get an extreme closeup. As is was...the mean guy stuck his beak through the fence and tried to attack the camera lens. I know the lighting is a bit harsh...but I kind of like it for this "in your face" image.

Your detail is great. It's not the type of picture that makes me say WOW but I admire you for getting so close to a big bird. ;) Dead straight light does make it a little harsh from a lighting standpoint. However, why would you want to make an "in your face" picture like this anything but harsh!

I looked at the picture before I read the title, and went "Wow! What the heck is *that*?" The perspective is excellent. Is this lit with bright sunshine, or a flash? In either case, it appears to be dead on in front of the eye, and is a bit harsh to work really well.
