Pretty much just playing around with the new 50mm lens I just got.

Lighting consists of one lightbox position behind and below the flower. That back lit the petals as well as add a little lighting to the background. I also held a small reflective piece of paper (silver) to provide some fill light. That was positioned above and slightly in front of the flower.

In post I increased the contrast and shaded the right side of the background so it matched the natural vignetting on the left.

Btw, this is the same flower that I shot for the Pure challenge back when it had a more youthful beauty:

I really need to learn how to take setup shots. This is a perfect setup and your light looks great! Nice job

Glad to see I'm not the only one who hangs onto flowers. I have boxes of all sort of dried out things...nice to pull 'em out during the winter. This is just entirely pleasing to look at. Love the prussian blue background...it reminds me of twilight.

Indoors in a dark room. The only lighting is what I listed.

Wow, very nice technique. These are the things I need to learn. I haven't the foggiest notion about placement. Very nice detail in the image and the blue background works wonderfully well with the creamish/white subject.
