Xianart is really good at these types of shot right into the sun and wanted to try some. It was one of the first times I kept detail in the shadows and color in the sky. I like the fact everything is running down the center of the image even the lens flare. I lost my lens hood months ago, I think I should get another one. Editing was slim. Did a little shadow highlights, but erased the effects in the sky. Some selective color adjustments. Thats about it. Sharpened using Luko USM technique. It is three passes with these settings.
first at 150, .3, 0. set to darken.
second at 150, .3, 0 fade 50% set to lighten.
third 18, 40, 0. normal settings
also used a circular polarizer.

Taken a minute after this shot on the way to my car.

Very nice. I like the centred but slightly angle composition too involving the sun, the flare, and the fence with shadows. Cool.

How did you keep color in the sky and detail in the shadows? I really like all of the converging lines.

Love the angled shadow. I like how the flares are kind of centered up as well.

Nice use of the wide angle here, cool effect with everything coming right at you. Might have to give one of these a go.

Before this side-challenge is over I'm going to give this a try. I have never shot into the sun like this. Any tips you could give me NOT to do. lol.

I dunno really :P. I think it is good to stop the lens down but I don't know why really. I can't remember where I metered But I think it was just off the sun so. Just chimped the photo and histogram to make sure I could use it. I'll try some more of these too.

fantastic shot, Joe. One more reason to remember to pack along the wide angle lens...
