 Mom showed me how to make her flash work off camera, and how to make the one on the top of the camera work at the same time. I got the idea from the family portrait my mom took of everyones feet.

I used levels to make it darker and Channel Mixer (Mom's preset) to make it black and white. I used Smart Sharpen, but I don't know how much since I used whatever Mom had in there last.

OK, its nice to see someone thinkging OOTB, but it aint doing it for me here, call me a traditionalist, but in group portraits I like to see a few faces in there.. 6

Very interesting family portrait! my hands are always my favorite part of me, too :o) I love the eyelashes in the upper left corner

I like the concept on this one. I might steal it for one of our family shoot.

I'd like to see better exposure on the hands balenced with the Sun(?).

Very interesting idea, but I think that even with the backlighting, the face and hands need more front light.

The concept is interesting. The overall black & white seems a bit flat to me. My eyes are continually drawn to the light and away from other interesting elements of your image.

Super concept for the challenge and a great B&W conversion. Not a huge fan of the light flare but still an impressive 8

A very clever idea for the challenge!
This would be interesting to see with some additional lighting on the front of the hands, perhaps from below, to help highlight the skin textures?

Great thinking. Think it would have worked better if the background were entirely dark, and if dad would have kept his fingers together. (6)
