nice family shot but it seems that they could have been set up with less shadows crossing their faces. The pillar on the left is a bit distracting as well

This is a good family snapshot. I think that a little more light thrown on the faces of the adults would help this one to become a beautiful soft family portrait. Cropping is good. Very good color.

a great looking family! the backlighting really seems to hurt us from being able to really see those great faces

Using the flash to remove the shadows from the faces would improve this shot.

too bad you did not use some fill light for this shot..the hard shadows kinf of ruin it...The composition is good though..6

this would of been better cropped a bit closer. Also, a wee bit more fill in flash would of been beneficial or maybe using a reflector. 6

Nice picture.

Another picture had the same problem this one does (and beach pictures are hard to do because of this). The background is lit better than your subjects (the people). Your subject have some pretty harsh shadows.

Check out some tips on taking beach pictures.

Good luck.

Nice family portrait. I especially like it that you did not take the picture exactly from the front of the family, it adds some depth to the picture. I don't like the familt being partly in the shade. I'dd rather see them in the shade entirely, or in the sun. Now their faces are pretty dark relative to their white sun-exposed shirts. Furthermore, there is a 'thingy' in your image (right below) (5)

Unfortunate shadow across top of man's head.

their faces are shaded a tad too much, imo, nicely done overall

Seriously needs some fill light.

Looks like a day at the post and beach. The post could have been cropped out IMO.

Shadows are way too harsh - I can't see any facial details in anyone.
The wonderful location and the coordinated outfits give this a lot of potential.

A very nice family moment. The colours are nice and soft even the shadows are not distracting. Tiny pick the table clothor leg is an eye catcher for me but sometimes you can't crop things out because you wouldtake out important things like her toes.

Just needs a fill flash to be stupendous! Still great and natural, as is. (9)

This would have been a perfect photo if not for the shadow on your faces.

This would have been nicer w/ a bit more light on the faces (reflector, fill-flash, or even PP), but it's a great shot.

Nice picture. A Little more light on their faces might help with the shadows.

I love the setting! If only the faces weren't in such deep shadow :-( A fill flash would have done wonders here, I think. Still a really nice shot for a tricky lighting situation.

Nice photo, I wish that the lighting on the mans face was more uniform, the shadow across the head keeps distracting me. Also if the mans and womans eyes were a bit higher in the photo it would help make this a really good picture.

The shadows hurt this image. A reflector in front of the family would've helped a lot.

Beautiful scene, but you could have used a fill in flash to get the faces out of shadow.

Faces are in shadows. One thing to remember when shooting in bright sunlight outside is to use your flash to light up the harsh shadows and make the photo more pleasant.
