Challenge: Technology II (Advanced Editing V*)

Taking less-than-full advantage of the Advanced ruleset. Added a second layer, dutoned in sepia-ish, and opacity to about 60% in normal blending mode. On the original layer, levels, curves, unsharp mask, some dodge/burn. Resize, border, save to DPC standards and voila!

I had about 30 ideas for this challenge, but this is the only one I had time to execute.

post

A wee bit disappointed this didn't score above a 6. I guess the dust was too much for some voters. I had some shots after I blew the dust away, but I wasn't happy with the expressions. Anyway, I appreciate the comments...glad to know some DPCers have seen the early Superman films.

Kinda like where Superman sent the bad Krypton guys in the 2nd (or was it the third movie?)... the Negative Zone, I think.

Beautiful shot! Imaginative subject and well done. (8)

I'd like the picture better without the gimmickry.

Great idea nicely shot, those things really attract the dust

Good shot, but i would have either cleaned up the HDD before taking the shot or done some PPing, taking into account those advanced editing rules. 7

Man, you could have wiped the dust off first ;)

The disk could be cleaner but I like the concept.

This very "General Zod"

Many of us certainly are. Should have cleaned that disk first though, or cloned out all the dust. The idea behind this image could have made it a winner along with the very apt title, but the image lacks punch. Some interesting lighting and/or filters could be considered.

I almost overlooked the reflection stuck in the platter.

I like the caption and the creativity. Some parts seem to be over-exposed. And the disc could have been cleaned. The dust/lint on the disc kind of ruined the photo for me. Afterall hard drives are made in a "clean room".

Would like to see this with the "prisoner" in focus. Good idea; reminds me of Superman II!

This is probably one of the better HDD shots i've seen in this comp, no disturbing background and it's a cool idea, I like it!
