"Does a tree make noise in the desert if no one is there to see it?"

Thanks for the comments and thanks to metatate for his blue ribbon.

fascinating pointillistic effect. Quite beautiful and strange.

What are all of the orange splotches. I think that it would have been better if the color had been confined to the tree and did not spill over into the black and white.

nice photo...try a burgandy frame to pull out the color in the desert and tree

I really like the simplicity in this one.

What happened to the colors here? I think it would work if the tree was the only thing with visible color. But I see little patches of color all over and it is very distracting.

I get the idea behind this one, but it just isn't to my personal liking. Thats not saying its a bad photo, just doesn't appeal to me.

Sorry but the post processing has made this look like white spots all over the photo including the darker tree. It is actually very hard to look at. Did you over sharpen maybe? BTW my monitor is calibrated, it can look very different on an uncalibrated monitor.

Personally, I'm not crazy about the processing - the landscape is so very busy. I do like the idea and concept behind it though.

Unfortunately this is rather noisy and unappealing for me. It looks selectively desaturated, not a favourite technique of mine, but judging from the colour noise in the scrub area, I'll guess not. It looks a bit overprocessed to me (oversharpened, over noise-reduced, and over-curved maybe). The composition is pleasing though, aside from the little mass top centre, and the shape of the tree is quite lovely. 5

Quite odd. I love the composition but the processing does not work for me at all.

I love selective desat but somehow the tree just does not stand out enough here imo. Maybe if it was highlighted more it would pop, also perhaps the tree could be more in the third. I do really like the textures used and the occasional hint of red in the shrub.

WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY oversharpened. If I weren't wearing glasses, I'd have cut my eyes! Good comp, bad processing.

This feels very noisy and disjointed. I'm not really a fan of the desaturation either. 5

This looks like a stippling - very interesting processing choices. I love it. Into faves.

Not sure if a filter was used here or if it was standard PP, rated the picture low either way. Very blotchy and nothing really appealing. Colors (red, green, yellows etc) on the ground don't look natural or fit. Diff take on lone tree in feild type picture but doesn't work for me.

Not really digging this shot. I am assuming its the post processing that is giving this effect. I dont find it a very pleasing effect.
