The composition, the color, and the mood set by this picture are excellent. I really like the way the curve of the frame is echoed in the curves of the curtain. This works outside of the challenge topic very well, and meets it better than most did. From your commenters, I think the consensus is it needed to have something in focus. If you're able to shoot it again (and even want to), you may want to try what Julianne suggested - just the leading tassles in focus. In no way do I think the framed face needs to be in focus - that needs to stay as is. This is not a DPC friendly submission, but it is indeed a warm and evocative photograph.

This probably would have scored better in the Soft Focus challenge, but I think the composition is excellent for Half. Most of the Half shots looked chopped in half, but this looks complete. I love the colors and the curves, but I must admit, I would really like to see at least one element (preferable the closest tassels) in clear focus.

I love the concept, the set-up, even the colours.
But the lack of focus really doesn't do this any favours.

for me, a little less orange that bright and a little bit more focused on the portrait

Hmmmm I am confused with this picture as I cant decide whether I really like it or dont like it at all. I am not normally a big fan of soft focus shots like this and when I look at it I feel that I am seeing an enlarged element of a much larger image, yet there is something about the way you have used the curtain as a frame and the colouring which is very appealing. My guess is that this will be 'punished' (I hate that term) by quite a few voters because it is outside the norm. So let me redress the balance a touch by going with my positive thoughts and giving it a 7

I love the concept and compositions. Colors are great, too. But nothing seems to be in focus. Seems to me that at least something should be tack sharp.

Still a good shot. 7

I really like this idea and composition. I think it would have been a little better if some part of it were in full focus...even just a small part.

Tassels are a bit blurry, but the composition is great.

Only wish the portrait was more in focus.
