 Sitting on my patio, saw a hummingbird land on a tree in my neighbor's yard, had my 300mm in my lap, so I took a pic. This is about a 75% crop,

Exposed for the sky because I knew there wouldn't be much detail in the bird at that range, so thought it would make a decent silhouette. Waited for it to turn its head to get the profile, then snapped the shutter. Lightened the blue and cyan channels to get the sky pure white, then backed off a tad; darkened the other channels to make it a silhouette.

I didn't think I would like this looking at the thumbnail, but I do at full size. I agree with cogerox however about the oof branches, and I wonder if they could simply be cropped off or you could clone them out. I'm amazed you didn't have any fringing in this, especially cropped at 75%, that Pentax lens must be great.

Nice capture and silhouette. Great negative space. The oof branches in the upper right corner are a bit distracting. Otherwise, terrific photo.

Wow. This did make a decent silhouette. Great eye. Good thing you had your camera with you because those little guys don't stick around long. Fantastic job on the cropping. The composition is very nice.
