This is a sand pit where they drive long wood stakes in the piles to keep them from draining. The look and color is similar to pictures I have seen of canyons in Utah, only we are in Quebec and the landscape is VERY different usually. It was so inspiring!

Unfortunately, I had left my camera at a high ISO setting from the previous day's shooting and the Alpha 100 creates a lot of noise at high ISOs. I added grain to the image to try to hide most of it because I really wanted to rescue this image. I did one pass in Neat Image and then another one with PS noise reduction Advanced Mode for the red channel but going any further was reducing the amount of details. This is soooooo frustrating!!!

I am definetely planning another trip to this location in the very near future!

I would have guessed the southwest as well, cool shot and I like the grain as it adds to the look.

You pulled the rescue off very nicely. I'd never guess this was in Quebec! Now, go out in the yard, and yell "AAAAAAARGH"!

Cool photo - looks like the locale for a 50's sci-fi movie. Yes, go back and take more photos. This is a fascinating rock formation.

Yes, this is reminiscent of the red rock formations in Moab and nearby in Utah......or for that matter, similar to a lot of the rock in the western US in general.

It also reminds me of Anvil Points, the Grand Canyon, and Bryce.
