This picture was incredibly hard to shoot. When I first decided on mad_brewer's Beacon picture I thought it wouldn't be to hard to get the right angle. Boy was I wrong. It took me 57 times of shooting the lighthouse to get one picture that was similar to the original Beacon picture. It still isn't perfect. The first day I went out the weather was perfect but unfortunately none of the angles came really close to what was needed to duplicate the picture. Below is an outtake, it was taken from the first day. The second day the weather wasn't as nice to be out on the pier shooting pictures of the lighthouse. The wind was terrible; at least 30 miles per hour with gusts much more than that for sure. The pictures this day turned out better, as far as angles are concerned anyway, so I went with the one you see above. It would have been nice to have a little bit closer sky but such is the way nature works.

The feel of Brewer's "Lighthouse" is there but with the placing of his sun and the view of the edifice, his is definitely the better of the two when you are comparing. But...on it's own merits, I think this one also is beautiful (8)

Edited because I was an idiot... I looked at the wrong picture of Brewer's. I apologize to you. The 'view' is almost identical, but I like yours a little better. It is so much nicer with the storm clouds and the breaking waves. Good work!

Big difference in surf and sky, but identical scene. I probably should have submitted my identical picture of another scene but didn't. Also the lines on top are very slack now. Totally different mood of an identical scene. I like the clouds and red horizon.

Here's another that beats the original. I love the lighthouse. I love the pier lights. I love the pier lights at sunset with the big waves coming in. I love this photo.

Love the colors and the leading lines that draw the eye to travel the path to the lighthouse off into the horizon. A very beautiful and idyllic scenery. Love how you captured some 'action' going on in the composition as well - the waves off on the right hand side contrast greatly with the more calmer seas on the left. Mad_Brewers composition is more of a lighter & airy early daytime shot whereas your's is a nice companion piece that shows us the sunset & a much more moodier edge/feel. Great job.

Wow! Almost an exact duplicate in composition but such a different mood it portrays. Love the light and colors very much. Well done! Bumping up while I'm here.

How gorgeous! I love this take on the original. It has it all...a sunset, dramatic sky, wet walkway, and crashing waves!
