It was still wet
it was still early.
A stream down the street was full from the late night rain.
The leaves have begun their fall progression

I didn't have much time to get out and explore, so I decided a macro was the most effective shot I had in the bag. The family was going to an amusement park all day, so I had about 10 minutes of reasonable light to get a shot. I walked to the stream near our house between the raindrops, tried a few shots. I left the stream unhappy with my collection and saw this maple that was gracious enough to start its turn to fall a little early. The wet leaves added something extra that was worth capturing.

I hope you like it.

pp: adjusted exposure, noise ninja, levels, curves, hue sat, minor cloning on leaf to remove a couple of hot spots. Resize for web, USM at small radius, added border.

I am soooooooo looking forward to taking pics of the fall colors. This is just gorgeous! The red stem bleeding into the vein of the leaves is a wonderful catch. Wonderful bokeh (I think that's the right word. lol I feel like I use it all the time now). A really appealing photo you have here...

Effective capture of that just-rained-on sheen - I like this composition a lot.

Really nice job on the exposure and I like how the leaf is mirrored in the background. It's good to see the imperfections because that's how they look this of year; trying to find a perfect one is nearly impossible.

Sooo pretty. It makes me long for the turning leaves. The colors in this are gorgeous and the clarity spot on. Extra bonus with the rain too. :) Yay for rain!

Autumn doesn't officially start untill the 21st, I've been seeing some early changes, too. This is a well captured and composed image, the colors are beautiful and the moisture even adds more appeal, great depth and focus, A+!! :)

Nicely composed, beautiful colors. Not bad for 10 minutes work! I might have liked it better without that leaf just to the left of the main subject, as its too close to get thrown out of focus enough to avoid being slightly distracting.

Beautiful shot - well captured and (very) well presented.

Maybe next time you could take more 'unpremeditated' shots - the sort you usually wouldn't bother with. Probably a waste of time (which is why you don't usually bother with them, wisely), but just a thought in case it opens up the idea box :)

This is great though - probably the most polished and accomplished shot on the thread so far.
