I really like this image. The fog and the reflection on the water really work well for me. And of course I like punny titles. I think the idea is a 10, but there's not quite enough going on here for a 10, so it's a 9 for me. chrisab.

I like how the mist and everything looks. It looks way murky out there. Great light to. 9

Cool image

The grey background is very atmospheric and I like the limited objects - especially the repetitive nature of the two brds at the right and the way they are balanced by the shrub to the back right.

crop the left-most bird and you have a real nice shot with a real clear focal point

I found the negative space immediately around the silhouetted bird interesting; a tighter crop woudl have made a better photo. Sure there is a lot of negative space in this photo, but I don't think it is used effectively. I find that it detracts from your photos potential beauty. 3, just-married

beautiful

Very froggy! :-) The vastness of this gives a feeling of emptyness to me, or loneliness. I like the simplicity of it, as well. karmat

Reminds me of my favorite "fishin hole", Might look a little better with the bottom croped up a bit.

Good negative space. It is a tad cluttered, though. 7

I'm not sure what causes all those lines on so many digital photos, but it sure spoils an interesting photo.
09/16/2002 05:09:00 PM
nice job trying to shoot a hard situation. fog is never easy to photograph
09/16/2002 04:06:00 PM
Total stillness. Really atmospheric. But if i was being picky... tighter composure of the shot to remove the smaller bird in the grassy / reedy bit would have made even more of that all important negative space. but I guess you'd have had to have waited for the birds to move a bit first! cool photo though.

You have a problem with 'crystalisation', where the jpeg compression has put bands of colour across the image. I'd also zoom in a bit, to get rid of the island in the top right.

This is the first photo that came up on my screen to vote on and I've been looking at it for a long time, especially since there has been a lot of discussion concerning the defination of negative space. Definately lots of negative space. The fog gives it a moody effect. But for some reason, the birds (your positive) doesn't seem to relate to the negative. I don't really know if this is necessary. My mind wants to put a lonely boat in the middle of the water/fog. I gave it a 9 for making me think too hard. :-)

Spooky atmosphere, nice detail of birds' reflections. I would have preferred just one bird as I think there is a little too much to look at. Also, I get shades of green on my monitor, but perhaps my mointor is just crap.
