Photographer’s Notes
This was taken at a friend’s place in Kelso Washington, USA. He bought a house and quite a lot of property and is using his own money and some grant money from government to rehabilitate the small river near his house. He is bringing back natural habitats for salmon, frogs, salamanders, … all of which are coming back … and along with them, the birds are returning, the elk, the beaver and so on. He has planted more than 2,000 trees to stabilize the soil. He has brought in more than 500,000 pounds of rock to stabilize the banks. And he has brought in dozens of huge fallen trees and “planted” them along the bank to manage the course of the river and avoid erosion.
Humanity has been about taming wild places since its inception. My friend is creating wild places. He is doing more than his share in the fight to save the planet.
I admire what he’s doing!
As for the image, it's not that great, but it did give me a chance to practice some impressionist techniques. It's actually rather good in print size ... not so good in DPC size. Probably score inthe middle of the pack, or a little lower.

Nice picture, it looks like one of the examples I saw, would liked to have seen brush strokes, lighting is good.

Very bland. More contrast in colour would have been better. No main focal point.

I am not a fan of this much saturation of color. Seems a bit hemmed in with the trees in the background.

For me, its a little impressionistic, but not quite enough. My favorite part is the bottom third of your photo. I like the white stones - they provide a good contrast to all the green.

This is very "impressionistic" looking to me, but the overall composition is uninteresting to me. There doesn't seem to be a rythm of tones (by that I mean it is neither warm or cool). What could have made it more interesting to me is one dominant rock in the foreground right to balance out the sky. I do like the smooth water and the reflections.

My final vote may seem rather high based on my comments, but you have met the challenge well, and the technicals are ok (minus the sky). 6
