It's meeeeeee! I was taking shots of this Ford on my work shadowing (get it? har har) placement today and I saw that my shadow looked like it was taking shots from behind the car. I thought it was quite interesting so I took a quick photo (only one). I then got home and saw the "Your Shadow" speed challenge... what a stroke of luck!

from the Critique Club

Huh, what's to critique? Quality of light/shade on the car is advertising standard (as I should hope, reading your notes), though i guess one could argue that the top rail has disappeared a touch too far into the high-key background. Placement of shadow is perfect, photoshopping work is seamless (again, as I should hope, given the lighting situation to work with). Distribution of 'weight' across frame is spot-on.

Given it's quality, I wonder why it wasn't you second blue? It has that same surprise element as the winner, without it being so slap-you-round-the-head obvious, is blatantly competent, all the hallmarks ... I wonder if perhaps its a touch too good, that car being so very professionally lit and everything ...

More top work, Ben

Excellent shot - and I love the pose of you/ your shadow - which is pretty cool since you only took the one shot!

Very interesting photo. It really captures the eye. Nice sharpness and contrasts.

This struck me as being simple in composition but different enough to get my attention. Even thought the car is more dominant and the theme is "your shadow" I think the softening of the shadow worked. Well composed.

Cool shot, but I don't get it.

Something resists - probably just envy - how dare you have access to such facilities, it's tantamount to cheating :-) But I'll resist lowering your score on those weak grounds ... a 9.

I love the layout and the idea. The back ground and the fade of the shadow looks a little blotchy.

This is one of the clearest images I have ever seen posted on this site. That is one clean car... must be brand new and detailed for a studio shoot from the looks of it. I have been looking at this shot for the past several minutes and I just can't figure out how you pulled this off.

Wow! This is perhaps the most professional looking picture I'ev seen on DPChallenge. I don't know you really have a car there os if it's just a picture (or something) but this is awesome!!!

I like the softness of the shadow, and the way it shades off into nothing. A good contrast with the sharp rendition of the car.

Very creative, technically one of the best of the challenge. I love studio-type stuff, so this is right up my alley. Impressive. Great composition, idea, and good clean whites. 10

neat image. I like the partial shadow hovering in the air and the lighting on the car is terrific with no distracting reflections and perfect exposure. I'll be interested in reading about your setup for this.

very nice. I like the way it drwas the attention from the car to the shadow and from the dhadow to the car. Very eye catchy.

Elegantly done indeed - waiting to read how you did the shadows part how much manipulation there :) 10

Cool, was the shadow part of the picture replicated from the CAR color or did you actually have your shadow in the shot and blank out the rest? Great shot its going into my 9 bin but it may move into my 10 when I get a better look whats out there. ......10!
