 Shutter Priority. F8, 1/200sec, iso400, no flash, handheld.
Full frame shot, not cropped. Really nice bokeh for F8 huh ;) That's the macro lens working its wonders, being able to come in this close. The Damsel is very tiny compared to a common Dragonfly. They're very slender as you can see and less than 2 inches long.

You can really see how tiny they are in comparison to the beach grass. One of my favorite shots from the day:


A Free Study outtake. I would've wanted to supress the bright highlights in the grass reed. But decided to go with the really closeup macro for that one (//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=582311).


This one though does have nicer bokeh. The exposure was right on. Underexposing the shot would've made the damsel too dark and the background too noisy when making the shot brighter. There's a trade off here. The white line is inevitable unless I took two shots, and underexposed one by a lot and then combined the two captures. Something I could've done for Free Study EE.

Hmm, now where have I seen lots of ribbon winning dragonflies before? PugH? A very familiar style, but a nice image. I don't like the black bar borders though.
