This horsefly is pretty large, and it was still alive and struggling to get free of the spider web. It wasn't being held by much, but in the end the spider won out (smallish spider too - only 20% of the size of the horsefly).

BTW - I just happened to notice this and had the camera fairly close as I was doing numerous weekend errands. Figured it might be interesting...in the end, I personally find it "ok".

I think this is a perfect subject for a B&W conversion. Colour wouldn't have that terrifying feel to it. Good job!

Personally I find it to be more than 'ok' and I like it a lot. I think this is a good example of preserving detail too. Even in the darker areas I can still make out a bit of detail and that adds to the image. I love the ones and lighting here. The whole thing presents a very eerie, somber mood which really fits the subject and its pending demise.
