I love the emotion in this photo, it shows a story in this young womans life. Great use of bringing this out.

Nice! I didn't realize the shot I'd seen in your portfolio was in a challenge. I don't get the time to vote as much as I'd like to these days, or I'd have probably guessed this was yours (not mine.) :-)

Very nice work on the shot, Cory. Nothing wrong with the color at all, and the DOF is sweet.

Critique Club feedback -

The only thing that kept this image from scoring even higher (setting aside ridiculous political voting) is the font. This is a great photo and works perfectly with your quotation. If you had gone with more of a classic font, at least on the word Home, the message would have much more impact on the poster and the whole package would just come together perfectly.

This was a great capture. I think the score this got was well deserved.

Yup, thats Al Asad. I was there in 2004-2005. Amazing how secure you can feel on that base, that is until the rockets start hitting. Beautiful shot!

No one who hasn't been there (except maybe a family member of someone who has) can ever really understand the depth of what you've produced here and how it hits at the heart of Marines and other servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Excellent work Devil Dog.

Great photo and love the DOF (or bokeh). Great photo for your words. I would have liked to see this without "home" being italicized. Nice!

This has an almost ominous tone to it. Not sure if that was your intention, though.

I like the image. It ties in well with your heading. Nicely done. With a bit more light or color contrast on the image, I would have scored it higher.

I like the photo and the sentiment a lot. However, the thing she's holding is so dark I can't identify it.
