I am very new to photoshop, actually Capture NX so this is just me playing around with brightness, contrasts etc. I am looking forward to being able to do some more spot editing but that will come once I start some classes that I have signed up for.

Try this to add contrast in PS.
Layer, add adjustment layer select curves then ok, click on the black eye dropper and then click on a spot in the photo that you believe should be black, then BANG heaps of contrast.

Sometimes it does not work or you have to cancel and redo if it looks crappy. I hope I have explained it correctly.

I like your POV on this shot and where the light is coming from.

Nice statue (as your previous one). Think it's hard to get a good statue photo with the light coming from the back (but that should a challenge). Statue is (in my opinion) still to gray, but keep trying!

A little wider shot would have worked better I think and it's a tad bit bright on the right side.

I like the lighting coming in from behind like that.

A little wider crop could have helped, with getting the full subject in. It is a little bright on right side. I am not good with Photoshop either, but I am learning :) We all have to start somewhere!

Keep pluggin along and you'll get better and better. In this shot I would have tried to get the full arms in the photo. I dont know muc about Capture NX so I can't offer any advice on how to tweak your contrast.
