I caught this guy along with six or so damsels. Popped them in the freezer for 2-4 minutes and they behaved quite nicely. This is f/6.3 which I think was the best combo of creamy smoothness and actual circles of confusion.

Processing is very simple. Convert from RAW, clone one or two dust spots, shadow/highlights (15/30), contrast (5/25), hue/saturation, NI, USM, border, BAM.

You say you did what!? LOL. You caught 6 damsels, wow. Your yard is just alive with great bugs. Lucky doc, you have such close access to the freezer hehe. It's a really nice shot m8, with the excellent dof and really good bokeh. It's tack sharp and detailed but would've loved to see an even closer up view. These smaller red dragonflies are a pain to stalk, they're really skiddish. Still no success in catching a glimpse of one since 3 years ago, when I was still using the point and shoot. So I can understand how getting it colder would help, but the damselflies aren't such a pain but it does take patience/skill in subtly shooting one so they dont fly off, not as easy shooting one as those more common dragonflies.

Wonderful bokeh, but the subject seems a little over-processed.

beautiful capture and bokeh. I love the subtle shade of the wings and the warm tones..a 9 from me.

Excellent capture!! Only thing which I will like to suggest that it may have even worked better by keeping the main subject off center probalbly towards left.
