I am still in denial, thinking the net is going to fall away and I will wake up tomorrow with a more accurate vote. I personally entered this one due to the perspective and did not expect anything over a 6, more like a 5.5, whereas shots that I am partial to, get only a 5.0, 5.2 etc.
I think this site has so many talented people, and I feel honored that I have received such wonderful comments and votes. I did not vote on this challenge but I finished voting on the Motivational challenge and was blown away by the awesome images.

The weekend before last, I snuck up to the Chatfield State Park to take a break from some major home and yard updates and came away with a top ten. Never would have imagined it.

I still do not believe I got the score I did.

Crop from top and bottom, no rotate, (taken in the landscape orientation). Overall brighten & sharpen, levels adjust, resize (too small in my opinion, but no time to mess with it.

Thank you so very much. Especially a few commentors that made my day and even a favorite, again thank you.

One more thing, I debated whether or not it would be in poor taste to post this after the tragic balloon accident. I decided that it would be fitting to illustrate that this favored past time adventure has a pilot that is constantly putting his life on the line. I've met a few of the pilots and know how serious they take their responsibility.

Ha, I knew this was the Chatfield festival, but I got a little nervous about that comment with all the balloon entries in all the different challenges. Congratulations on the top ten placement!

...and yippee for Colorado, three appearances in the top ten!

Colors and DR are really good. Perspective seems a bit odd but who knows.

One of the few that made me say wow. Every wow gets a 9. The colors are so good, I'm giving you a 10.

Beautiful colors, and great perspective...the juxtaposition of the two balloons works well, in fact much better than a single balloon in my opinion.

It's beautiful. But I don't see what's the risk.

The perspective difference from the positions of the two balloons is quite interesting. Very nice color capture in this photograph. It's quite clear someone else was also at Chatfield this past weekend! :-)

I'd like this better in portrait orientation - the gondola looks like it's hanging sideways; a little confusing to the eye.

I like that this is a different view of balloon than I usually see. This is especially meaningful considering the recent headlines.

Wow! What vibrant colors against a beautiful sky. Given the recent balloon crash, the reference to the pilot is apt.
