Challenge: Working Without a Net (Basic Editing)
Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ50
Location: Hafnarfirði
Date: Aug 25, 2007
Aperture: Auto
ISO: Auto
Shutter: Auto
Galleries: Sky, Transportation
Date Uploaded: Aug 28, 2007

I had planed to take similar shot at another location but there was no machinery there. While driving the beautiful way home I stumbled upon this, perfectly in harmony with working without a net.

What I like about this picture is that it's nearly black and white, black and grey rock with dark grey overcast skies, it was actually raining, the only color being the yellow earthmover.
The picture was shot about 1 kilometer away at high zoom, in the rain, without tripod.

The picture was cropped and resized.

Originally I submitted another shot but I accidentally overwrote the original file, so to keep with in the spirit of the rules I withdrew that picture and used submitted this slightly inferior shot instead.

I wish to thank everyone who took the time to leave a comment. Most of them are helpful in one way or another.
In the description I wrote that the yellow thing was an earthmover so it's baffling why so many people couldn't figure it out. Maybe I used a wrong word, larus called it a bulldozer.
I hope to do better next time.

Sky is overexposed

Wow that took way to much time to figure out what the heck that was.

Not a good photo. I don't know what that thing is on the top. Out of focus.2

Just a snapshot. A great shot for this challenge, but not impressive. Too misty and washed out across the sky area.

I can't tell what the subject is.

Hard to tell what this is. A nondescript mass of rock (?) with an unidentifiable blob on top.

That´s hard to make out what it is, my best guess is a bulldozer but you really should have found another angle that showed better what that is on top of that hill.

I can't work out what that is!

All I can see is rock and something above it that I can't identify. I'm sure you have something there that tells a story, but it needs more definition. If you cropped closer, however, you'd lose the dangerous side of the clff.

A bit overexposed.

The level is out. And the object is not clear. A tighter vertical crop may help.

Nice capture - Like the composition but the image lacks some much needed saturation which would have added some much needed drama

Confusing, have no idea what the subject matter of the photo is.

I can not even see what's in this picture. It's a lumpy grey 'thing' a blown out sky and a uhmmmmm, uhhhmm, thingy. Is this some kind of abstract that I don't understand? I'm afraid it's not.

Took me a couple seconds to understand what it was.
Maybe this would have looked better as a portrait and a bit more zoom...
