Some curves adjustment to sharpen the tones up some more would improve the impact of this shot.

This isn't Stephen, is it? Nice angle on the chess board. This looks like it has a double meaning, check moves, and life moves with alcohol. It could be much sharper, but it's a decent picture. It's cropped a bit too much, especially with the bottle tops chopped off. It's also hard to tell the bottles are alcohol bottles.

Nice muted tones - Not too sure how this is working without a net? Needs some saturation though to get those blacks black.

I'm sorry, but am having real difficulty seeing how this shot fits the challenge. Lighting is flat .... wonder how this would look b/w?
