First challenge with my new 60mm 2.8.

Two years ago today is the day my father passed away. In tribute to him, I took out his old tools and tried to take a photo that depicts what he loved - to work with his hands. I don't image it will do really well, probably in the mid 5s but you never know...

Shot in RAW, adjusted curves, levels, sharpness, noise ninja, cropped to size. Desaturated, USM at large radius, USM at smallradius. Colorized using hue/saturation, resized for web, slight dodge/burn and cloning to reduce blown out areas, added border, done!

Post Challenge: Thanks for the comments during voting - 13 is the most I have seen in a while. I am really happy that my tribute to my Dad came off well and scored in my top 5 images.

Great photo and good finish!! Have to say this shot struck a particular chord with me as my late grandfather used to be a carpenter (as in someone who worked with wood rather than a member of the pop duo) and I remember seeing him working with tools like this (which used to glide effortlessly under his control then transform themselves to lumpen objects if ever I picked them up). Your story about them being your late father's tools adds an extra layer of poigniancy

Great job

Grain adds to the historic appearance, but I think it's overdone here.

So nostalgic. I love the emotion that this brings up in me. My grandpa had much the same tools on his workbench.

A 10 in my book. Well done! This would be an eleven if I could! Just something about it.

a bit oversharpened. like the crop and the sepia toning. nicely arranged, the diagonally lying tool makes the image
