I got up extra early today to catch the mass ascension at the Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival out at Chatfield State Park. I figured I might as well so since it's five minutes down the road, right? The balloons were okay, but the prevailing winds weren't conducive to my vantage point. The paraplanes, though, were zipping around just above our heads.

When I was about 14, my Dad and I made a trip to the big show at Oshkosh, where we saw these things for the first time. We thought it would be cool to buy one for me so I could fly to school. You know, land it on the football field, stuff the chute in my locker, head to class...

I think all I did to this was crop, cloned out a tricky bit of sensor dust between the chute lines, despeckle, selective color to deepen the sky, a curve for definition, Neat Image, resize and smart sharpen.

This is a nice shot and you have done well with your positioning of the subject. Pity that it is just slightly out of focus in some areas. Would and could have been a ribbon winner if the DOF was slightly better and allowed the entire subject to be focused.

Really wish the paraglider was really sharp, this photo seems to have some motion blur, or whatever is causing that blur to him is not to my taste. Gave a 5.

Very nice light and color to this photo. A less centered and more dynamic composition would really help take this to the next level.

Nice capture - Great colours but the lack of sharpness lets this down badly.

the sail is nice and sharp but your driver isn't ... great color saturation ... meets the challenge nicely

The yellow wing against the blue sky is really strong, and the diagonal composition gives a sense of movement. I think the only thing that would improve it is a sense of perspective. How high is he? How fast is he going? That kind of stuff. But still, a nice shot.

Nice capture. Like the blues and use of negative space.
