Photographed using a Nikon CP8800 with a 2X tele-extender. The tele-extender is an enormous Hewlett-Packard laser beam expander with a 120mm clear aperture. The effective FL was 700mm. The camera assembly is gimbal mounted on a heavy duty tripod. VR feature of the CP8800 help to achieve the crispness of this image.

That is an intresting combination you are shooting with. I had to look up the CP8800 to see what it was. Shooting in NM helps a lot I would guess, as it is normally a bit hazy here in Florida. I am curious about the HP gadget, which I would guess was quite expensive. I have moon shots with a 1,000 f11 Meade mirror lens, and it was not this clear at 100% crop. Part of that was due to camera shake, as the S3Pro has no mirror lockup, and the rest atmospheric interference. I have not experimented with it in the winter yet, as I haven't had it that long. The sky is better here in the winter.
