I had originally wanted to do something along the lines of this shot by Deb (' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Melethia) ==> ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/0-999/581/120/433305.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/0-999/581/120/433305.jpg', '/') + 1) . ', with a flock of birds in flight. The opportunity never presented itself. :/

It was nearly impossible NOT to submit to this challenge. I had to go out and get a shot. So I ventured off into the wildflower area on the fringes of our horse pasture Sunday afternoon. Figured I'd see a butterfly...something with wings for sure. :) I noticed some of these hummingbird moths (that's what I call them, not sure of their correct name) and that became the subject. Unfortunately, our german shepherd discovered them as well and proceeded to thrash about in the weeds chasing them. Good thing I kinda like her! :P

Ended up with several choices so I may have to visit the outtake thread when this wraps up. :D This was an interesting exercise in trying to catch moving objects in manual focus mode! :)

I wonder, how many butterfly/insect on flower shots will there be in this challenge? He-he. A bunch I imagine.

Some other shots from the same outing:

I guess that's a hawk moth,and I know they're difficult to capture. Well done. I think I would have cropped in a bit closer.

Fun shot! I like how the purple flowers stand out so nicely & how the bee/moth's body is in focus.
