... Paste on a smile, act like a model, and make lemonade.
The model is Shushig, and she was so great for cooperating with this scheme. During our shoot, we decided it would be fun to drop lemons on her head. The designated lemon droppers even accidentally dropped their buckets on her head. Twice. Luckily she had an umbrella.
A HUGE thanks to Neira for the location and all her assistance. This shoot would not have happened without her.
There was some "expert" editing going on here. I added 3 extra lemons to this shot from other outtakes, and the pink background wasn't large enough to cover the entire area, so I had to paint it in around the edges. Also smoothed her skin, changed her eye color and cloned out her dark hair from under her pink wig.

Wow, the yellows of the falling lemons REALLY pop off of the hot pink background. Love the sense of motion in some of them showing that there is movement rather than static action taking place in the shot. Skin tones are great. The smile and the slight breeze that blows on the model's hair is a wonderful touch because it invokes the idea of happiness and taking an easy breezy approach to life which plays well into the title stating the old addage "If Life gives you lemons, make lemonade." The slightly pink hair is a good touch as well because it subtly plays back to that hot pink background. The main hues of bright yellows and hot pinks are bright and happy tones also perfect for the idea and mood you are trying to convey. My only critique - and a small one at that - is that I wish the composition did not crop or cut off a portion of the umbrella. It would be better if the composition had ALL of the main compositional elements within the frame.
There's so much to look at! I love the bright pinks and the yellows you chose to use. And your model of course, who is just the right amount of quirky for this shot. I also love how you managed to achieve the feel of movement in the lemons. I sort of wish you hadn't cropped the umbrella, but it doesn't matter much to me.
