 The parents first made a nest in the cherry tree to the right of the porch, but an owl got to the babies the first day they hatched. So they made a new nest, in a very unstable hydrangea tree right at the base of the stairs. So we (the humans) secured the tree from the high winds (to keep from chick-spillage. Then because the nest is SO accessible from the stairs we barred off the front walkway. We did this after the mother spooked after dark when a friend came knocking on the door and was stunned crashing into the house. Luckily, she wasn't hurt and returned to the nest on her own. Nobody has weeded or mowed, or weedwhacked this part of the yard all summer! It looks horrible, but we have a healthy brood of new robins. Worth it in the long run.

Awwwwww. . .this is WONDERFUL! Such incredible detail in those feathers and in their eyes. As tiny as they are, they look like they are posing for you.
