 The backside of the Arlington Theatre taken from Von's Parking Lot. For those of you who aren't from Southern California, Von's is a huge chain of supermarkets. The theater backs onto the parking lot for the supermarket and there is a huge, ugly dumpster just to the left of this door.

The Arlington used to be the Fox Arlington and is a local landmark. Inside it's designed to look like a Mexican village, so the audience is sitting in the town square. The ceiling has little lights in it, so it looks like there are stars in the sky. The first three or four times I went to a movie there, I really thought we were sitting outside. (I'm still pretty gullible!) It wasn't until I went to a matinee that I realized that realized that we were sitting in an auditorium.

I've been meaning to take this picture for years, so when I saw the shadows this afternoon, I grabbed my camera, and here's the result.

lol like everyone else says, this would have been great in the shadows challenge. I LOVE the distortion of the lamp's shadow. It looks like a diamond hanging from a chain. The palm tree shadow looks like a claw reaching out to grab it. Beautiful colors in the pic as well.

Beautiful! Everything about this photo is just right. Interesting and varied shadows, gorgeous colors... I hate to think that in reality there is an ugly dumpster just out of frame.
