David, I gave this a 7. I remember when voting, though, that I tried to match the title to the pictures, and it doesn't work. I finally decided the title referred to life and death in general.

I like it. I am somewhat confused by the placement of the floating photos though. Are we looking at Nanna's lap or a memorial table? I still like it.

Oh what a sweet and tender tribute to your loved one. He has the hands of a gentleman. My prayers go to his family and friends. This is a very touching image.

I'll give you the benefit of the faceless part of the challenge theme being meet even with all the faces. After all it's quite obvious what the subject of the shot is. However, without the faces a lot of the emotion part wouldn't really be there. So I'm a little torn on how to vote on this one...

Nice and sharp but a little too contrived it feels - The white balance seems a little off too.

This image may only be emotional to a few, and only extreme emotion to a smaller number. For me, it doesn't hold much anything, The lighting and colours are nice, however I think a more shallow dof would have helped, keep the hands the focal point, and not so much on the photographs.

Great approach to the concept. So many approached it from the living, taking it to the perspective of the dead was brillant.

You definitely got the emotion part. Great job.

Interesting angles. Like the way the colours contrast with the meaning.

Very poignant photo with a rich mix of black & color! ...worth a thousand words!

Great concept, Although there are many faces in the picture, it is not the faces that express the emotion. Good thinking there. I am afraid you will be voted down by people that do not appreciate or understand subtle interpretations.

Interesting. The contrast seems a little flat to me.
