 In some of the fancier neighborhoods in the old part of Phoenix, there are small little horse farms. They are all grandfathered into the zoning. It is quite strange to be driving down the street, surrounded by multi million dollar homes, only to come across a scene like this one.

This is one of the things I love about Phoenix. This is the 5th largest city in the US, but they have not forgotten their roots. This is shades of the old west right here in my neighborhood.

Lovely, clear, crisp photo. I want a good camera!!! Anyway... yes, I second what you said, Barbara - it's wonderful how "country" is interspersed in the city here. Your photo illustrates that very well.

Nice pastoral. When we lived in Phoenix (many years ago), I was half an hour late to work on the first day, because I got caught behind a herd of sheep being driven down Thunderbird Road!

I love places like this. There are a few remaining ones here that are nestled into these growing suburban neighborhoods. It's quite cool.

This is a great little scene, I love when I see litlle farms right outside of Austin, there's such a difference between that & the city, it's a nice change of pace.

Lovely shot, the strange thing is in the UK because land prices are so high it would cost more to have a wonderful paddock like this than to have an ostentatious house (and to be honest if I had the money I would pick the paddock every time)

I love horse country, being that I was raised in it as well. Although, it was truly country! It would be such a nice respite to see this in the city.
