The second Sunday afternoon in a row I've found myself strolling the Hudson River waterfront. It's such a pleasure since the piers have been renovated. The island of Manhattan may not have a beach, but we do have growing access to the river.

I have several architecture photos from today that are probably better photos, but I thought it might be nice to share a little flesh. Because I didn't want to intrude too much on the sunbathers with my camera, I stood at the entrance to the pier for this long shot.

There are several of these piers in a row; one has fountains and a playground and seems to be restricted to children and their guardians only.

I agree with mad_brewer, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the grass as I expected to see the sand of a beach. The sky is fantastic...it almost looks like the sky from a Simpson's episode (having just commented on your Quick-E Mart quadtick (a word?).

I find this interesting because we have Lake Michigan here and I only see this on sand. It's good to see a different perspective.

:-) Yes, in other words, I did not want to appear to be some pervert with a camera. People can be sensitive about having their picture taken, and doubly so when showing some skin!

I love people sharing public green spaces. All so close yet all in their little worlds

Nice image

lol you did not want to intrude...

there are some seriously white people there who are gonna be burning in the morning for sure!

i could never just lay there in the sun like that - I would get bored. But it does look like a nice place to go and relax!

Boy, some of those people really need a bit of color, so it's good to see them getting their Vit. D! Love the clouds and compostion. Nice image, a bit different for you. Very nice!

Holy crap, that's a lot of tanning going on! Wouldn't find me there - I don't tan, I'm white, then red, then peeling and flaky, then back to white!

I guess it's because I'm from California, but everyone looks so pale! Neat clouds!
