I love closeups because they're so revealing, through the camera's lens we're able to see fine details that normally go unnoticed. This image was captured through my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens so I had to get really close which isn't always possible. There were at least six Swallowtails hovering around the thistle blooms and I had to work very fast and hope for the best.

I know that you don't want to lose detail in the blacks on the butterfly, but I really think that bringing down the midtones/shadows would make this image pop more. A simple curves adjustment would do wonders for it. I like your sharpness and your composition. The background bokeh is very nice. 6 from me.
