Well, do you remember i have been telling you (aka bitching incessantly) about the amount of rain that we have been having, well here is proof positive. This is the same bridge that I took the black and white photo of us playing football under on day 15!!!

After I had picked Daisy up from her mum's this morning we decided that we would wander into town. We ended up going the back way through the park and could not cross it because it was flooded, and I mean flooded! Anyway we abandoned the idea of doing the shopping and instead went to get our wellies on so we could investigate further. When we got to the small park some of daisy's friends were there so we spend ages just messing around, the kids even did some swimming (please note there is no swimming pool at the park) after some time all except beth went home and so Daisy Beth and I decided to go to the big park (where the river runs) to see what it was like and this is what greeted us. We spent another hour wading through fast running water and generally gasping at the level of water (I have been here 10 years and it has never been like this). The girls decided they would like a sleepover so when we got back I checked it would be OK with Beth's mum who just said Daisy would be welcome. I took Daisy home dunked her in a hot bath (we were in the sort of state that we had to get undressed by the front door) and then took her over to Beth's where no doubt the two of them are still gossiping.

Having downloaded the shots onto the PC I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the quality of image I took. I really would have liked to capture the event better, but ultimately I think I was enjoying myself too much (as well as ensuring no one drowned and - as importantly - the camera didnt get wet) to really think about the shots

Anyway I thought I would give you a couple of bonus (hmmmm interesting use of the word) shots. They are, in order...

The football pitch at the small park

Daisy and beth wading through shallow water after having been swimming

The signpost to the big park

A nice shot of all the kids tearing around in the small park

Actually I have just realised something...Maybe the shots arent the greatest in the world, but we have had a fantastic day and given the choice between dodgy pics and great fun or great pics and no fun I realise which one I would choose every time

Wow I guess it has been raining an awful lot there!? At least you got the most out of it, maybe no football but watching & joining the kids in some water fights how could you go wrong? :)

Wow, that is too crazy! When I saw the thumbnail of this, I thought "that can't be the same bridge from the football picture", and sure enough! Austin looked like that after all the rain we had, and we had some again last week, but luckily a lot of it has gone down. I hope you see sun soon..I'll try to send some your way :)

Ok, lol, what is a wellie?

About this shot, is it normally dry here then, similar to what you showed in Day 15? Or was Day 15 just an unusual day with it being so dry?

You guys must have just had an incredible amount of rain for that area to be flooded like that. Now I know why we haven't had much here...

Ok, the cold water has clouded your British mind... these images are wonderful, they captured the day and events absolutely wonderfully. Very lovely images to go with the lovely memories...
