Challenge: Rhythm III (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II
Location: Humber Bay, Toronto, Canada.
Date: Jul 21, 2007
Aperture: f/6.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/320 Second
Galleries: Panoramic, Seascapes

Shot using a non IS zoom lens wide open at 300mm. The ducks were actually swimming quite fast so that posed a challenge. Repeating theme: cascading ducks/cascading waves.

This might be better if you could zoom in to have the ducks fill more of the frame and crop so the subject is not in the middle of the picture but in the bottom third.

Hi Kristin! You are possibly right on both counts. I had my 300mm zoom almost wide open and did use a bit of sharpening (2 stops in DPP/RAW). As for the rule of thirds, I thought that the mass of water was already overwhelming and this would be even more so, placing the ducks in the lower third.... maybe that may have been the way to go... I'll try to re-crop and see how it looks! Helpful comments. Thanks!

A good idea. I would personally like to have seen 1/3 of the left hand side of the photo cropped out and a tighter crop on the 2/3 on the right. Then a bit more colour contrast added.
