OK, well sorry for the late posting and the bit of a rushed shot

I just tossed daisy's Chelsea football onto the lawn and took a shot of it. Then using the technique that jackal9 very kindly sent to me I desatted the badge (my first 'proper' desat as the one I did for the desat challenge was done in PIcassa using focal black and white. I was quite pleased with effect although the white on the pentagon looked a bit weird so I painted over that in white (another first for me) selecting the area with the magic wand (yet another first)

One question people might be able to answer is is there any easy way to crop a perfect square. Basically I have been doing it in standard crop and then trying to make adjustments, although for some reason it seems quite hard to do small adjustments on PS6 and in this instance I am about 6 pixels out (hence the slightly lop sided white inner frame)

Anyway what can I tell you about Chelsea....Gee that would be a 50 day challenge it iself

I used to go and watch them home and away every game (in the UK and abroad). When I was younger they were full of promise but always seemed to let you down at the last minute. A couple of years ago they were brought by a russian billionaire who has pumped loads of money into the club and since then they have won the premiership twice.

The funny thing is that now they are successful I feel slightly alienated by them. I still love the team but some of the things that go on mean that I know it is an unrequited love because all I am to them is money

If I had the choice between no trophies and the affinity that there was between the club and fans or trophies and the coldness that now exists then I know which i would pick.

Great story! I really like the selective de-sat, the part in color is a tad off focus but it all ties in together really well. I really like the grass & clover in B&W!

Comparing your picture to your narration, I guess you could say that the color is gone out of the club.

You are the master of photography, aren't ya? Oh I just tossed the ball on the lawn and took a pic, la de da lol. I am assuming that is what we here call a soccer ball? I bet these games are great to see in person. I've watched them on tv and I cannot believe the moves that some of these players have.

It is amazing what happens to the sport when money takes over. I love going to college football (what we actually call football lol) games over pro football because I think there you are seeing pure talent, drive, and spirit as opposed to the big boys who are playing for money and endorsements.

I like your composition here with the ball in the top half of the photo and the grass and clover on the bottom - gives the viewer something to look at in the entire frame. The desat looks good and I love that the border has complementary colors.

When I do a square crop (and am not sure about PS6) I type in 5 x 5 for my crop measurements, and it just gives me the square crop. Then I can rotate to (attempt) straightening it. Very nice composition and desat. I like the blue border tying into the emblem.

Now, I was just reading in Sports Illustrated that Chelsea has won 2 of the last 3 championships. Very nice, but I have to agree about the coldness that seems so prevalent in sports these days. Here, they at least try to get someone locally to buy the teams.

I agree with you about Chelsea's bought success; it kind of cheapens the game. Mind you, I haven't been able to watch a premier league game on TV for several years.
As for cropping square, I use PSE 5 and there's an option to crop 5X5 which makes it really easy.

Nice one Jon! I like it, good job! As for the square crop...ya got me, been kinda trying to figure out a simpler way to do a true square myself...Good Luck!!
