I came home from work tonight and was tasked with grilling steaks (yum!). I went out onto my back deck where the grill is and as I removed the cover and lit the burners I must have spooked this bird.

Two trees are on each of the two corners of my deck as it extends into the yard. In the right one, near the grill, I spied a nest. Apparently there must be eggs or babies in the nest because this bird and it's mate went into protection mode. Both stayed relatively close to me on nearby branches. As each would move position they would emit a single loud chirp announcing their new position. The entire time I was snapping away it was MOVE - CHIRP - MOVE - CHIRP. They were not pleased with me I'm sure, as the one pictured looks quite annoyed.

No eggs/babies were harmed during the shooting of this photo.

The steaks were fabulous.

Very clear clarity on this little guy. He does look intent on trying to figure out what you are doing :)

Ha! Good story. The bird does look like it's saying, dude, you better watch it. Lovely photo - colors are wonderful.

Nice light and detail. The bokeh forms a natural frame for the bird. Good work.

Is that a cardinal? We have so many around here and I have tried to get a shot but they are always moving so fast. This is a nice capture. I like the blurred fence in the background. I think he wanted your steak. :)
