Thanks to Mels for letting me plaster her face with mud ;)

PS work done: Face had a mud pack on it, but couldn't get right to the edge of the eyes so cloned that in. Shoulder was burnt to darken, eyes whitened (too much and too quick but no time left!) sharpened a bit and some red multiply added to the hairband.

Guessed most people will go for animals, so really wanted to do a portrait, something different - and a portrait for NG is a real challenge. Didn't come out as well as I wanted, but thanks to me leaving it until the last second, it will just have to do.

my #2 vote, he doesn't seem to mind how he looks. Great shot.

Great topic! It's the one that come in everybodies mind frist when thinking about NG.
It's a little dark though and the expression of the model is too much emptiness.
Still, I do like it very much.

Beautiful Portrait! I love it!

What interesting texture - is this mud spead over the face and dried and cracking? The contast between that dry flat texture and those bright shining eyes is wonderful. The face emerges from the shadows subtlely topped with a red cloth and closed at the bottom with the white necklace. Wish the whole necklace were visible.

Hope that is dried mud... not burned skin. Look like it is right out of NG. Nice. pic.

For many reasons this bothers me - I guess it's supposed to be humorous...? (next day) Upon reflection, I think this picture deserves some credit for effort.

At first look, seems to be a real ethnic photo. Nice.

Fits the theme (maybe a tad dark for me).

Worthy. Excellent shot.

Great shot. Has there been some manipulation to the eyes? The whites pop almost too much.

A bit too dark around the top left corner- makes it hard to see. Absolutely love the attempt at a face. I think faces of the world are often what NG is showing.

WOW. You've captured an excellent expression. The red headpieces and necklace frame the subject. Sadly, part of the face/neck gets lost to the background. The eye are wonderful. Great execution of the theme
