5.7 for this is ridiculous. Please don't take that as a value judgment on this photo, or the creative behind it. What a strange and twisted reality we have here when a shot of this caliber places halfway down the pack.

It's wrong.

Congratulations again on "seeing" this image in your mind, then executing it so well.

Nice work to say the very least.

Colleen this is awesome and a great closeup shot! If you caught this on the fly (ooh can I say that???) as in - spontaneously - then you are super master photographer. Irregardless, this is a great shot and that is one seriously ugly bug lol.

A piece of paper with a bonus - I seriously think glue must have been involved. :) Love the angularity of the composition.

Wow, i've come to the Paper challenge for a brief look, as this particular challenge doesn't really interest me.
However i wasn't expecting a shot like this.
I love how the tones of the fly are similar to the background and manage to tie them together, whilst the bright white of the paper make it seem the odd one out in this shot.
The composition is qually interesting. The angle of the paper and crop ask questions, such as what is the paper object?
I like the wide aspect, along with the black framing aswell.

I'll vote this a 9, whether i manage another 24.9% of voting to make this stick i'm not sure however.

I don't consider a twist tie to be paper.

hmmm - per the details of the Challenge: Make an image with paper as its subject, or where the subject is made of paper.

Your image - without use of the title - implies the fly as your subject.
It's a really nice macro, but not really meeting the challenge. I'm not a total DNMC nazi, so I'm only taking one point away.

The lighting and color tones are perfect however, it seems to me that the paper is not the main subject of the image. It it were a "Bugs" challenge this would be a 10.
