This is Gi. He is absolutely the best sushi chef in Austin. So... I am stepping out of my comfort zone and trying to get used to taking pictures of people. I generally feel like I am intruding and so I rush my shots. This one is a good example of that. It was taken with the flash while my daughter held a napkin in front of it. However, the iso was set to 1600 and my camera does not do well at iso levels that high. I ran it through Neat a couple of times but Gi's face is a bit soft.

It's at the Korea House on Anderson Lane. It's nestled inside a quadrangle of buildings and there's a pond and bridge outside the door. Very cool.

I understand about the comfort zone thing. So good for you for stepping out of it!

My camera is horrible with noise as well. Something I try while using flash is to close the aperture some. Sometimes it helps cut down on the overexposure but it allows me to use the lower ISO. Good idea with using the napkin.

Like having him in his own environment and I can understand being nervous of shooting people... the only person I'm at ease shooting is myself (that way no matter how it turns out, I'll never offend the model :P)!

I am nervous about people shots as well. You're right in that it's not techically perfect, but got a good environmental portrait here.

Nice environmental portrait. Too bad about the flash reflection on the sushi tray.

You hit me. We have a nice Japanese place here with wonderful sushi. Have to go there soon again.

Oh Sushi!! Can't go wrong there! Nice shot, the softness is not a bad thing with this shot, it gives it a warm inviting feel, almost dream like! Very nice!!!
