Hmmm a bit of a bland day today where I seemed to get bogged down in minutiae rather than uprooting trees.

If this challenge is really the equivalent of a visual diary then my entry for the 16th July would not cuase Samuel Pepys to lose any sleep

We had about 10 minutes of good weather and I went out for a quick stroll. This is a cool weathervane which i have seen before and I thought it might make a nice image

It might be a lot duller story than some during this challenge but technically wise I think its OK.

ooooo I know what I was going to say...after my success with suiteness's help on learning how to do internal non opaque borders if anyone else has a tip or technique that they think I should be trying then if they PM me with idiot proof instructions how to do it then I would love to experiment (probably to excess)...Oh and by the way if any of you PM me and say anything like 'take better pictures' or 'focus' then you are cruel (if not totally inaccurate) people

Umm, who is Samuel Pepys? I love the negative space on this, the sky is a georgeous shade of blue! I always wanted one of those weather things, I think they are smart looking. I have no suggestions, I think your photos are great!

I like this a lot, very simple set up yet quite effective! Love seeing just the blue and black; the tilt doesn't bother me, but it would also look good straightened :-)

That's a really neat weathervane. Good photo though it tilts to the right - rotating a few degrees would take care of that, though of course you'd lose some of the edges.

If Samuel Pepys were alive today, would he have a public blog?

As far as weathervanes go, I think it's mighty alright. And technically sound.

This is very nice, a very cool weathervane indeed, and nicely composed.

I have no post-processing suggestions. I am such a total amateur at processing, and the few things I know how to do I have picked up in settings like this challenge.

Very effective using the blue sky as the background. I like the fox's body language -- he's intent on his destination.

Nice use of "rule of thirds", with this one.....

Hi Jon - interesting weather vane with the fox there. I like the black contrast with the blue background and the border is a good complement to the silhouette.

I don't know if this is technically correct or not but to me it is good that the arrow and fox are pointing towards the neg. space. If you were thinking about using this for a challenge, the only thing I would want to see is that the vertical pole is more parallel with the sides of your photo. Nice subject for this challenge.

Cool weather vane! love the sky, no words of wisdom here either Jon. I guess that the whole point of this is a visual record of whats going on, sometimes it's exciting sometimes not, thats life! Today is a sometimes not day for me as well! LOL. Nice work on the border too, I still have trouble figuring out to do them.

Oh Jon... you're SO funny. And who is Samuel Pepys? Anyways, sorry I have no great tips... but this image is wonderful. Great sky and I love the arrow of the weathervane pointing into the negative space of the image. Great composition. And glad to hear you had a whopping 10 minutes of good weather.

Yes, Jon - I really wish you would give our eyes a rest and take some better pictures. :op JUST kidding of course!!! I totally love this photo - it's stunning in its simplicity and the blue sky could rival the sky we get here in hell - ah - Phoenix. Great weather vane - never seen one with a fox before. I like how you placed it in the photo, too. The black frame is perfect for this.
