 Another image from my baloon ride...it's funny cause I wasn't going to give this image another thought. I was looking through my catalogue in Picasa when I thought I would kit the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button and the shot came to life!

I wish I had a bit more space on the bottom for the purpose of composition, but not much I could do with a super wide angle lens and a basket under me...


PROCESSING: I used levels, then cranked up the contrast which saturated the image. Smart sharpened, then resized and applied a couple of passes of nois reduction. Some dodging and burning and cloned out a couple of sensor dust spots. I am so glad this is in 720 pixels.

PREDICTION: I am so bad at predicting...umm...well, I am confident it will do OK. The saturation might hurt me with the scorers, but I think it is a feature of the image. I love the shapes as it looks almost like granite. High 6's...fingers crossed

POST: Well it seems the saturation did hurt me. I had another version with less saturation, but decided I liked the abstractness of the image. I should have cropped out the car park as well...you live and learn I guess

Wow! I'm getting vertigo looking at this photo. What a balloon ride that must have been! Spectacular. (Love those bright colors...heh!)

Aerial shots usually accompany an amazing perspective with poor compostion, colors, exposure, and lighting. This has all the technical aspects and the cool view. Excellent!

I would love to be where you are ... but if I took a photo, I hope I would have been more subtle about the p[ost processing.

looks really cool, I like the other balloon too, nice yellow spot with all the beautiful greens and blues. I think I would have cropped it without that parking space, so it looks even more abstract.
