This was really hard for me to choose, I have a great portrait I took of my friend i wanted to use but i showed the two shots to a couple of friends the responses were pretty much equal both ways so i basically went back and forth over and over and this is the one that happened to be the one that was uploaded when the challenge began...haha


This was taken on a day with good cloud cover so it made beautiful diffused light, i picked this photo because i think it looks nothing like mellissa, which is good because ive used her as a model ALOT recently and wanted to submit a photo of her that was really different from the rest. I also really like that there was color in the water in the background (we were by a swamp/marsh thing) because it gave life to the color instead of having everything all gray. I think this looks overedited but with melissa if you edit at all it will look over edited, so i dont know. It's a different kind of look that i want to try so here it is. I dont like that her head is cut off but thats how it was shot originally so oh well.

Great sharpness on her face. The background is a bit of a mess - I hate the pink to the right hand side. Nice composition, though.

The model is a beautiful woman but the skin of her face and the eyes seem unnatural , too much "photoshoped".

Terrible post processing has spoilt this for me. I'm sure the original is a nice shot by the looks of things.

This one stood out on the thumbnails as feeling very fresh and natural. I still get that feel now that I see it better but for me her face is over-edited, I'd much prefer it more natural to go with the whole feel of the photograph. Her expression is a bit awkward around the mouth but the eyes seems happy and the way her hair is falling with the background, beautiful.
