Another shot of my kids. I had taken a handful of images of my friend Dave and then a bunch of Aidan and Rowan, but none really stood out as anything special. I did one last round of shots in the shade on the back porch. Aidan was just cranky because Clifford was on TV and Rowan was just being a bouncy goofball who wouldn't give me a straight look to save my life. She ended up flopping down onto the floor and looking straight up at me. I popped off 4 or 5 shots and then called it a day. This looked like a keeper while sifting through the RAW thumbnails. I am very pleased with this shot. She is my little princess. I doubt that this will do as well as the last picture I have entered of her - her death shot that is holding onto a 6.85 right now - but it would be awfully nice. I know there will be tons of amazing portraits in this challenge. This image I am just proud to have.

PP - RAW conversion, cloned out blemishes and yogurt, high pass, NI, selective color, pimped out eyes with dodge, burn, blur and sat, did some cloning to clean up porch floor background, resize, USM, border.

I've been remiss - can't believe I haven't commented on this one. A definite keeper, that's for sure, and an exceptionally good portrait of your princess. Now you need to do one like this with her mom next to her. (Yeah, yeah, I know - it'd be like catching lightning in a bottle to get her to do this again, but give it a shot!)

There are great images in this challenge but hardly better than this. My pick for a ribbon. The blue and red colors are bautiful... so I predict you´ll either get the blue or the red.

I like the framing of the image very much. The portrait is whittled down to the bare minimum, and it works - I feel a connection with the child, as though she is letting me into her world. Nice work.

Great focus on the eyes. Background is a bit ho-hummish. I'd have been tempted to really push the exposure on this and go for a high-key look. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

Some pretty blue eyes, for sure!
Only wish the chin and top of head wasn't cropped/chopped out.

OUTstanding light. The eyes and the background just wrap it all together as a nice present.
