OK, so TODAY I took my camera out without looking close at the lens. So, when I arrived at the grocery store where I was planning to take some photos of the kids in the produce section (or the meat section... don't ask me what I was thinking...).

Well, anyhow, I pull out my camera and low and behold, instead of my Sigma 18-200, my Canon f1.8 85mm lens is attached to the body. So, instead of a wide angle shot of one of my kids with a bunch of produce, I work to shift my mind to portrait mode.

Then, we headed out from the grocery store to the river front, where I did snap a couple of portraits but I liked this shot better.

This boat is typical of dozens of boat along the waterfront in my town. I live about 2km (1.2 miles) from the waterfront. It is a great place to take the kids and wife in the evening for a stroll.

Oh, yes, the Southern Cross is a constellation in the southern hemisphere that is in the form of a cross, which points directly south. Since, I live near the equator, it is usually pretty low in the sky this time of year.

I overlooked this before, but it really appeals to me now. What an interesting little boat -- I've never seen one like it. Good colors, well exposed, and of course I like all the water "above" the boat, which accentuates the boat's small size in a big body of water.

I like this photo a lot. Great use of negative space and reflections.

The funny thing is, with no land to give it context, it almost looks like a miniature boat.

That's a very lovely boat. Not something I'd see on a regular basis. Nice capture.

I love the negative space of the water, and great colors of the boat!

Very nice boat. I like the colors and wondering what that thing on the left in the water is. Perhaps the border is too big. It makes the photo soo sad.

What a pretty shot, very peaceful! It makes me want to be on that boat all alone in those calm waters and just relax...
P.S. I envy your location near the equator, you get to see both northern and southern hemisphere constellations :-)

Not sure how the produce or meat picture would have been, but this turned out well. I love how the boat stands out against the bluish gray water.

Very simple, beautiful shot. I love the reflections and how the water just goes off into the background.

It sounds like such a nice place to go. With the boat being all that's out there, it looks a bit lonely. But very nice.
