First Impression - the most important one:
Intriguing, yet very simple... perhaps a little too simple. The bright spot in the top right hand corner seems to distract me from the image.
Composition:
Let me just say I'm glad it's not directly in the centre of the picture! :) I am very much intrigued by the camera angle.
Subject:
The subject in this picture, the paper clip doesn't for me directly relate to a missing link. I very much like the idea that you were going for, but I think there could be a better object to "find" that relates to a linkage of some sort. I do like how you avoid stereotypical ideas like the monkey to man bit.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
The blue is very nice, I think personally, I would have liked to see the surface a little softer, more like the edges of the picture. That is just my preference.
Artistic:
Definitely creative I'll give you that, but as I explain later it is missing something else.
To grow its vote?:
To grow this pictures vote? I do think you would need another element in the picture, something not to take away from the simplicity of the image, but something to give the picture a little more subtle character.
Summary:
Overall, I really like the picture, but it is a bit too simple. There nothing that really makes me want to stare at the picture longer. You know how great pictures you just want to look at for a long time?? Well as good as the image is, it is missing that. It’s not one of your strongest pictures, (like peep peep, I love that picture) but hey its higher then your average, so keep that up and your loving it!
